What Makes Sorrento Special

Sorrento sits on the edge of a cliff above the Bay of Naples, looking across at Vesuvius on one side and down the Amalfi Coast on the other. It has been pulling people in since the ancient Greeks settled here, and the Romans built their villas along the same cliffs that tourists photograph today. The old city sits behind medieval walls, its streets laid out in a grid that hasn’t changed much in two thousand years.

The historic center is where Sorrento actually lives. Narrow alleyways called vicoletti run between 18th-century buildings, opening onto small piazzas and hidden courtyards. The Sedil Dominova, the only remaining seat of the 14th-century civic chiefs of the Campania region, still stands on one corner. A lemon grove that has been here for over 150 years sits quietly behind one of the city’s oldest restaurant facades, one of the last left in the center of town.

Sorrento is also the most practical base on this stretch of coastline. Capri, Pompeii and the towns of the Amalfi Coast are all within easy reach. But the city rewards those who slow down and stay within its walls long enough to find what’s actually there.

For me, food is not just about eating — it’s about sharing culture, family traditions, and authentic flavors. Motto: “In Naples area, food is always a way to bring people together.”
In my free time, I love visiting different pizzerias to try different styles of pizza, and exploring local agriturismi to taste traditional dishes made with fresh ingredients straight from the garden.

Frequently Asked Questions

General Tour Information

Is a private food tour in Sorrento worth it?

Absolutely. Sorrento’s authentic food scene lives inside the hidden medieval alleyways, and the best local osterias or artisanal shops can be tough to navigate or book without an expert. A private booking gives your group exclusive access to a 120-year-old cheese factory, wood-fired pizzerias, and private limoncello showrooms at a flexible pace focused entirely on you. It’s the most refined way to experience the Amalfi Coast’s flavors.

What's the private group size?

Private bookings are available for 2 to 12 guests. For larger corporate groups or custom incentive travel along the Amalfi Coast, we can arrange bespoke concurrent experiences—just get in touch with our team.

Do the tours accommodate vegetarian or gluten-free diets?

The tour is incredibly welcoming for vegetarians (including fresh mozzarella, lemon pizza, and gnocchi). However, due to the traditional nature of Neapolitan wood-fired ovens and family osteria kitchens, we cannot safely accommodate gluten-free or vegan diets on this route. Please share any vegetarian requirements when booking.
